Blog 20: American Idiot

Here is probably the last Green Day song I am going to talk about. If they had more songs I liked, I would talk about it, but I am pretty selective with Green Day if I do say so myself. Besides that, American Idiot is actually one of their better songs. They get rock pretty well with this one, especially with the speed of the song. Their lyrics as usual are really good with this one too.

Blog 19: Holiday

Another song by Green Day that is really good. The solo by the president is a really good addition to the song. I wish he had more lines, but that segment ended pretty shortly. Besides those lines, it is pretty good in general, although I wish there was some more. The way the instruments are used is pretty good too, especially with how they are brought to the extreme in the different changes.

Blog 18: Boulevard of Broken Dreams

Really good beat to this one. Green Day always does a good job with rock music, and they did this one really well. If anything, this one is more like slow rock, something you would probably see more during that time. The lyrics to the song are pretty good and the deep meanings are pretty good to think about. The guitar is the best part of the song, it really completes the piece.

Blog 17: Come out and Play

First song that is a major rock song. The Offspring is really good for songs like this, and they did the same for this one. It does repeat a bit, but it does it in a pretty well-made way. The beat of the song is good, and it adds a good amount to the lyrics of the song. The lyrics are actually pretty good, if only they added some more to the song it may have felt that it didn’t end short.

Blog 16: Blue Monday

This song is reeeeaaaallllly long. It is probably way too long. The lyrics are good, but it is boring on how long it is. The instruments are good, but they do not need to repeat themselves that much. I know the song is liked a lot, but it I can’t get over the fact of how long it is.

Blog 15: Abracadabra

Another old song here from Steve Miller Band. The instruments used are really good, it perfectly catches the theme of the song. The beat is super good and slow, sounding like a magician’s theme. The lyrics are pretty good, although they repeat a lot. The song is pretty long as well, but let’s be honest, these songs are all like that.

Blog 14: Runaway Boys

Another one by the Stray Cats. This song is much faster, and it definitely sounds like a song from the 60s. The pace is much faster, which is good for the theme. It does feel dragged out because the song just repeats twice, but the lyrics are decent. I think that the music is much better than the lyrics of the song.

Blog 13: Stray Cat Strut

Alright, we got a really old one here. Even though it is super old, it is really well made. The instruments really add to what they were trying to go for. The song is pretty long, as usual, but it is supposed to be a slower song because I think it is from the 60s. Stray Cats as a band is super good because their music is really iconic for their time.

Blog 12: Jailbreak

Here is the second song from Thin Lizzy I was talking about. The song is good, it reminds me a lot of their other song, but it is the same band so it makes sense. The beat is much more relaxed, which goes well with the lyrics. Using the same instruments as their other song, it makes the song itself better. I also believe that it is the cover album song, but I think their other song deserves that.

Blog 11: The Boys are Back in Town

We got another oldey here. This song is by Thin Lizzy, who made another song I am going to talk about. This is also a pretty long song, but it is super original throughout the whole thing. The instruments give it a super epic tone to it, especially with the instrumental solos. The cover art is super cool too, not sure exactly what it is about, but it is still pretty cool.
